Cultural-Historical
In 1891, the Zurich Opera House opens its doors. Originally named the Stadttheater, on the site of the Actientheater, the venue was constructed. The concert hall, designed by the Viennese architects Ferdinand Fellner and Hermann Helmer, preserves its original Neo-classical facade. The foyer and auditorium of the Rococo style entrance, which seats 1,200 spectators, is noteworthy for its elaborate ceiling paintings.
