Cultural-Historical
The Watergate complex was designed in 1962 by Luigi Moretti, an Italian architect. It was the home of the national controversy that led to President Richard Nixon's impeachment. The complex was financed in part by the Vatican, approved by the first Catholic president of the nations (John F. Kennedy), and feared to mar the elegant riverfront of the cities.
