Description

The Votive Church is one of the world's most significant neo-Gothic structures. A botched assassination attempt on the Habsburg Emperor was the reason for its construction. It is Vienna's second tallest structure, only after St. Stephen's Cathedral. In 1853, after the assassination attempt on Franz Joseph I failed, the Votivkirche was constructed.
