Description

Athens' Tomb of the Unknown Soldier is guarded by the Presidential Guard 24 hours a day. Politicians and officials lay wreaths at the tomb during major holidays. The Evzones are the Greek army's hand-picked toughest soldiers. Their standard uniform features a skirt over their skirts, stockings and pom-poms. They perform an impressive full ceremony on Sundays with formal uniforms and an army band.
