Description

Tijuca National Park, a lush Atlantic rainforest, is an absolute wonder that it is the world's largest urban forest that covers 12.4mi2 (32km2) and was the result of Emperor Dom Pedro II's incredible forward thinking. He saw the deforestation of the land around Rio in 1861 and ordered Tijuca to be replanted to ensure future citizens' water supply.
