St. Stephen's Church is located in the eastern part of Hegmataneh Hill in the Old Armenian Quarter. This church was built in 1676 by a group of Armenians from Isfahan and immigrants. (During World War I, thousands of Armenians from western Armenia sought refuge in western Iranian cities such as Kermanshah and Hamedan.)
