The Cathedral of St. Basils was completed in 1561 and has been the tallest structure in Moscow for 40 years. It is made up of 10 different churches, with a 10th added over the grave of the local saint, Basil, in 1588. During Soviet times, the cathedral was taken from the Russian Orthodox church. Since 1990, it has been part of the UNESCO Moscow Kremlin and Red Square World Heritage Sites.
