Description

This intimate gallery, part of the Smithsonian, is devoted to crafts and decorative art produced from the 19th to 21st centuries in America. It was originally built in 1859 to house the Corcoran Gallery, the first art museum in D.C. The museum was spruced up in 1972 and renamed after its prominent architect, James Renwick (designer of the nearby Smithsonian Castle)
