Cultural-Historical
Rembrandtplein is one of the busiest and liveliest plazas in the region. It was named after Rembrandt van Rijn, the most famous painter and printmaker in the region. Clubs, music clubs and pubs are packed in the square and nearby streets. With many opening their stages to local folk musicians, the Dutch café tradition is alive and well here too. The neighboring Reguliersdwarsstraat is the center of the gay scene in the Netherlands.
