Since 1949, Taipei's Presidential Office Building has housed the president's offices and his staff. The colonial-style building was built to serve as the headquarters of the Japanese occupation in 1919. In its middle, the five-story red brick building has an eleven-floor structure. The Presidential Office building is open for visitors on weekday mornings.
