Description

Plaza de Oriente is one of Colonial Madrid's few great monumental squares. Originally constructed by Joseph Bonaparte, the plaza was not completed during the reign of Isabel II until 1844. The most prominent is the bronze equestrian statue of Felipe IV in the 17th century, designed by the Italian sculptor Pedro Tacca in 1640.
