Description

Just 17km (11mi) northeast of Antalya, Turkey, lie the ruins of the ancient city of Perge. It is said that Saint Paul, an important city for Christians during the Byzantine period, preached his first sermon there. In 1946, excavations started on the site and have since discovered a large Greco-Roman theatre with fine marble reliefs.
