Description

In 1814, to celebrate the defeat of Napoleon in Paris, Pariser Platz was named after the city of Paris. This square was just east of the Berlin Wall during the Cold War and was closed to the public. It is now a popular venue for travelers to meet to enjoy the Brandenburg Gate. There are many embassies lining the perimeter of the square, including the French Embassy.
