Description

The colonial capital was moved to Panaji in 1759, when recurring bouts of malaria, cholera and ultimately Bubonic plague overwhelmed the glorious city of Old Goa. The narrow, winding cobbled streets, whitewashed churches, and Mediterranean-style buildings today make Panaji a perfect home base to explore nearby Old GoA.Don't miss Fontainhas, the old suburban neighborhood and home to Saint Sebastian's Chapel. Check out Sao Tome, Goa's old " Fleet Street " and the General Post Office.
