Description

The Old French Concession in Shanghai is an area leased to the French in the city's Luwan and Xuhui districts. In 1849, the French took over the area, but it wasn't until the 1920s that the neighborhood reached its peak of popularity as one of the most elite neighborhoods in Shanghai. The surviving historic structures are occupied by a range of restaurants and boutique shops.
