Nordic Museum (Nordiska Museet)

Description

Nordiska Museet is devoted to the history and ethnography of Swedish culture. It was founded in the late 19th century by Artur Hazelius, a Swedish teacher and folklore specialist. It was initially supposed to be a national monument containing the nation's material inheritance.An immense sculpture of King Gustav Vasa, the supposed father of Sweden, occupies the grand main hall. The building's architecture is influenced by the Dutch and Danish Revival styles.
