In the former Royal Palace, which dates from 1812, the National Museum of Art of Romania is located. Opened in 1947, the revolution of 1989 destroyed it and reopened in 2005. There are three main collections in the museum located over three floors of the palace. Mighty Old Master treasures from King Charles I's private collection are part of the European Paintings and Sculpture Collections.
