Cultural-Historical, Museum
The era from 1453 to the 1940s is represented by the Athens National History Museum. An ornate Neoclassical building dating back to 1813 houses the museum. It was once the birthplace of King Otto, who, after independence in 1832, was the first Greek ruler. Until opening as a museum in 1962, the Former Parliament building housed the justice ministry.
