Description

The Athens Metropolitan Cathedral is the official seat of the head of the Greek Orthodox Church, the Archbishop of Athens. The cathedral was commissioned by King Otto of Greece and completed with twin spires in the ornate Neo-Ottoman style. The Byzantine architecture of its three-aisled interior is decorated with frescoes and priceless icons, and lined with tombs and relics of Orthodox saints.
