Description

Constructed in the year 351 B.C. The Mausoleum of Halicarnassus, home to the tomb of King Mausolus, the Persian King of Caria, is one of the seven wonders of the ancient world. Its ruins are still common in modern-day Bodrum, despite being almost completely destroyed by an earthquake in 1304.  Some of the rocks recovered from the mausoleum's wreckage were also used to build the Castle of St Peter .
