Description

Established in 1929, Brazil's first skyscraper was the Martinelli Building. Giuseppe Martinelli, an Italian immigrant-turned-business tycoon, designed it. The Italian government sold the house to the state of Brazil after the Great Depression. At 130 feet tall, the building is still standing today.
