The Cathedral of Marseille is a Roman Catholic cathedral and minor basilica located in the Old Port of Marseilles. The first stone for the current building was laid in 1852 by Prince Louis Napoleon Bonaparte. It is the seat of the Archdiocese of Marseille and France's national monument. The cathedral was designed from 1852 to 1896 in the Byzantine-Roman style on a gigantic scale.
