Cultural-Historical, Religious
In the center of Prague's Jewish Ghetto, the Maisel Synagogue was built in 1592. It was funded by the Mayor of Jewish Prague, Mordecai Maisel, and its original style was Renaissance in appearance. During a ghetto fire in 1689, the synagogue burned down and was restored by the architect Alfred Grotte between 1893 and 1905 in its present, spindly Neo-Gothic form.
