Mahalakshmi Temple in Mumbai, built in 1785, honors the goddess of money. The temple is visited every day by thousands of Hindu pilgrims, particularly during the Navaratra festival. The temple was founded, according to local tradition, to house three idols rescued from the sea by a British engineer. One of Mumbai's busiest and most popular places of worship is the temple.
