Lindenhof is both a district and a square of the same name in Zrich. The district is the oldest part of the town, and a Roman fort once stood on a hill in its place. Women dressed up as soldiers in the 13th century and stood on the elevated Lindenhof to break up a siege. They gave the impression that a strong army was coming to save the cities.
