Approximately halfway along the popular Lycian Way hiking trail is Kekova Island. In the 2nd century, an earthquake caused much of the city to sink into the water nearby. The island is a specially protected area and swimming is therefore not permitted. There is also a necropolis of Lycia that runs along the coast, exposing half-sunken tombs.
