Cultural-Historical, Museum, Religious
One of the most magnificent Byzantine churches still in existence is the Church of the Holy Savior in Chora. Originally founded in the 5th century, it was part of a monastery complex that stood outside what was then Constantinople's ancient city walls. In the 12th century, an earthquake caused the church to partially collapse and repairs were completed before the beginning of the 14th century. The best of the Palaeogian Revival is reflected by much of the gorgeous mosaics and frescoes in the house.
