Description

The Kapnikarea Church dates back to the 11th century, and is among the oldest in Athens. Saved by Ludwig I of Bavaria from demolition in 1834, the church is now a fascinating distraction. The highlights include several stunning mosaics by the artist Fotis Kontoglou and a series of icons.
