In Mumbai, the Hanging Gardens are renowned for their well manicured grounds. They were founded in the 1880s and were devoted to Pherozeshah Mehta, the political leader and barrister. The gardens are built over a reservoir which provides the locals in Mumbai with drinking water. They face south towards Colaba from Malabar Hill, providing panoramic views of the city and the Arabian Sea.
