Description

Designed in the 2nd century A.D in honor of the Roman Emperor Hadrian, the Arch of Hadrians remains one of the most striking relics of ancient Athens. The intricate building, located on the ancient road between the Athenian Agora and the Olympieion, was allegedly designed to celebrate Hadrian's arrival. A symbolic portal between the old city district and the modern Roman-built city was created by the Arch.
