Description

Until 1941, when the Nazis closed off the surrounding area and established a Jewish ghetto, Tadeusz Pankiewicz ran a pharmacy in Podgrze. He was offered to move to the Aryan side of the area, but he decided to live in the ghetto. The pharmacy is now part of the Historical Museum of Krakow and its wartime appearance has been restored. It was also used as a haven for Jews escaping deportation to the camps.
