Description

Between 1815 and 1818, the General Post Office was established as the Irish postal service's headquarters. With 55-foot high Greco-Roman pillars and dramatic Ionic columns flanking the entry, the building features a Greek-revival style. During the 1916 Easter Rising, Patrick Pearse gave his iconic pre-siege speech on the steps of the GPO.
