In 1612, Fort Aguada was built to defend the Portuguese colonies from invaders from the Netherlands and the Marathas. Constructed in 1864, the four-story Fort Aguada Lighthouse is the oldest lighthouse of its kind anywhere in Asia. Before the sun beats down on the bare stones and you'll need lots of sunscreen, get an early start to visit the fort.
