In southeast Cairo, El Mokattam Mountain Cave Church, also known as St Simon's Monastery, is located. It is claimed that it is one of the world's largest engraved monasteries. The church is dedicated to Simon the Tanner, a saint who lived during the 10th century as a craftsman. It has a capacity of up to 20,000 seats and features different motifs and sculptures representing Christ's life.
