Mahatma Jyobita Phule is the main municipal market in Mumbai. The market buildings were established in the 1860s and were elected the first Civic Commissioner for the cities. The external frieze was designed by Rudyard Kipling's father and a lofty skylight lights up the interior. Driven hikes, preferably avoiding the meat area, are the perfect way to visit the market.
