The galleries of the Colombo National Museum date as far back as the late 1800s. Beyond the Buddha at the entrance, tourists can find famous sculpture, ancient history and profoundly ingrained rituals. The museum shows some of the most striking items of both its history and present, whether they are well-preserved swords, ornate masks or hand-carved furniture.
