Description

In 1970, Christ Church was declared a National Historic Monument in the Old Town of Alexandria, Virginia. In 1767, George Washington and Robert E. Lee were worshipers there. Today, as well as a congregation of over 2,000 people, there are still regular services and activities. The site's cemetery remembers 34 Confederate prisoners of war who died during the Civil War in concentration camps.
