Description

King Leopold II wanted famous structures depicted on his royal estate at Laeken from around the world. With these two towers representing Japan and China, Architect Alexandre Marcel carried out the project. In 1904, the towers were completed, entirely constructed of wood, and connected by a tunnel. Both Chinese and Japanese art and artifacts dating back to the 17th century are on display.
