The Opera House of Cairo was first designed as the Khedivial (Royal) Opera House in 1869. It was the first to stage a performance of Rigoletto by Verdi for its opening on the African continent. In 1971, the original building burned down, but the structure which took its place continues the tradition of the Opera House. Rare photos, papers and concert brochures chronicling the past of the Opera Museum are shown.
