Description

Buenos Aires boasts a lively coffee community, but few of the city's cafes are as emblematic as Cafe Tortoni. Opened by a French immigrant in 1858, the cafe quickly became a popular haunt for tango singers and literati, most notably La Peña's founding members. The walls still adorn many of their old pictures.
Cafe Tortoni remains a popular place where locals come to talk over a morning or afternoon coffee, just like in the early twentieth century
