Description

In the lovely Neo-Classical Villa Ilissia in the Athens suburb of the same name, the Byzantine and Christian Museum is located. It was built in 1848 as the home of the philanthropic US-born Duchess of Plaisance, Sophie de Marbois-Lebrun. To trace the progress of early Christian and Greek Byzantine society, the priceless exhibits are set out chronologically.
