Cultural-Historical, Monument
The Bronze Horseman on a horse is a statue of Peter the Great. The monument was designed in the late 1700s by Catherine the Great to commemorate the founder of St. Petersburg. The massive granite block weights more than 1,600 tons and has taken more than nine months to be shipped out of the Gulf of Finland. Legend has it that as long as the monument stays intact, St Petersburg will never be taken over by hostile armies.
