Description

Botany Bay is Sydney's central port, which is significant in both historical and modern times. It was Captain James Cook's landing spot in 1770, when he first stepped into Australia after thoroughly exploring New Zealand.A monument marking the meeting of European and Aboriginal cultures here is now located in the heritage-listed location. On the headlands of La Perouse and Kurnell, Botany Bay National Park lies to the north and south. Hiking, scuba diving, snorkeling, walking trails, picnic areas, and scenic bay views are offered in this area.
