In 1869, the Berlin town hall (Rotes Rathaus) was completed. The Neo-Renaissance building was designed in a round-arch style as a multi-winged complex. It has three inner courtyards and a 74-meter (243-foot) structure. It has served as the seat of the Administrative Mayor and the Senate of Berlin since 1991.The Pillar Hall has an orange-colored, groin-vaulted ceiling and busts, and for bigger functions the Grand Ballroom is used. The hallway on the third floor, painted by Rolf DÃbner, contains portraits of every Berlin honorary resident.
