The Romanesque Sant'Ambrogio Basilica is dedicated to the patron saint of Milan, Ambrose, Bishop of Milan. The church embraces a combination of styles that were rebuilt and revived in the 11th century. Christ's apse mosaic is the pinnacle of the subdued interior in white and terracotta. During the Second World War, the Basilica was severely bombed and has been thoroughly rebuilt.
