
Cultural-Historical, Museum
Finnish paintings and sculptures from the 18th century to the 1950s are housed in the Konstmuseet Ateneum. Paintings on view by Akseli Gallen-Kallela, the brothers Von Wright and Pekka Halonen. A limited selection of foreign paintings from the 19th and early 20th centuries, including Van Gogh, Gaugin and Cézanne.The house itself dates from 1887, and on the ground floor is a bakery, bookshop and reading space. The other major museum of the Finnish National Gallery, the Sinebrychoff, holds the largest collection in Finland of Italian, Dutch and Flemish paintings.
