Cultural-Historical
Professional craftsmen from the Cycladean island of Anafi produced Anafiotika. In 1843, they arrived in Athens to serve in the construction boom that preceded Greek independence. Tucked between the miniature churches of Agios Georgios tou Vrachou and Agios Simeon, only about 50 of the artisan dwellings remain. Their descendants are now living in their mini-homes, among vivid splashes of perfume.
