Marseille's Abbaye Saint Victor is also considered the oldest church in France. The history of the abbey goes back to the fifth century and was destroyed in the ninth century. In the 13th century, when other world-famous churches were first built, it was refurbished.In the late 18th century, the site was robbed of all of its finery to appease a member of the de Medici family. On the road to Notre Dame Basilica, it's a quick stop.
